Automotive Components and Trim
You’ve probably seen a wood dashboard or wood paneling on the side of an old wagon hauling surf boards but, way back when, cars had a lot more wood in them. Plastics weren’t readily available and it just made sense to use wood to form interior structures because that had worked so well in carriages.
If you’re looking at a car that time has gone after with a vengeance, let me help you. I can identify the type of wood originally used and, together, we can come up with a game plan to replace what’s no longer viable. I can pattern replacement components from existing pieces, photographs, or, in some severe cases, almost nothing. Your car can be safe and beautiful once again with good, solid body, roof, and trim pieces.
Since I’m not afraid to translate ideas into wood, I’m up for the challenge of rebuilding something to replace deteriorated components so that a car can come alive again. I’ve owned my own 1931 Ford Huckster since 2016. I am so proud of how well the restoration of wood components came out that I put that vehicle on my logo.
Fine Cabinetry
They don’t call it a dream kitchen for nothing. That’s where the best cabinetry starts, in the mind’s eye. That’s also where creativity meets practicality. How often do you cook and who will be in your kitchen with you, either slinging hash or keeping you company? I’ve been known to ask the right questions to get my customers really thinking about cabinets as more than storage boxes with a little paint or stain slapped on there.
Dave created a 5 by 9 foot butcher block counter top for our kitchen island that is incredibly stunning to look at. It was also significantly less expensive than granite or quartz.
He also installed more than 400 feet of crown molding in our home and every cut and the installation were perfect. True craftsmanship. — Tim Pelton
My customers and I also come up with some beautiful wainscoting ideas that will enhance walls along a staircase or in a room. Details like crown molding can make all the difference and add a tremendous amount of character to your home.
Living with a corner hutch and feeling a bit short on space? Our colonial ancestors had fewer pieces to store so many customers have relied on me to solved today’s storage problem while keeping a room period correct. A second hutch in the opposite corner seamlessly doubles your space if the design and quality of construction matches the original piece. I can copy those historical details so that no one will know you’ve added built-in furniture, a new door, or molding. I use hand tools such as French curves to make custom paper patterns that become my templates as I create historically accurate wood pieces.
Sophisticated Games and Accessories
I may work to restore vintage and antique wood products but I don’t believe that craftsmanship is thing of the past. I love to create new products that are all about quality, such as game boards.
Corn hole, anyone?
