Custom Wood Creations

for your home… for your vintage automobile… for your life

Wood. We’ve been using wood for centuries because of its strength, durability, versatility, and beauty. Whether its hidden behind a wall to hold up our homes or displayed as a work of art on a table or shelf, we love the way wood enhances our lives.

Wood by Budd. I spent a good amount of time wondering what I’d want customers to think when they saw my business name. In the end, it came down to three little words that tell the world I’m Dave Budd and I work with wood. I’m as flexible and creative as the wood I work with. I love to create the fine cabinetry in a custom kitchen just as much as I love recreating the past when I form a piece of wood to replace something that time has destroyed in a vintage automobile. I never cease to be amazed at how well wood can work in so many different applications.

I’m keenly aware of what my customers need when they hire me. I provide decades of experience so I can answer questions as basic as what type of wood to use where but that won’t make a vision come to life. I have learned over time that my ears are as important as my hands. I listen to my customer’s ideas and can coax details out so that, in a little while, we can almost see and touch the finished piece together. I go off to my shop inspired by what I’m going to make but that’s nothing to what I see on the faces of my customers as they look at the finished product. They have what they had only imagined before, thrilled with the result.

“When my wife and I started getting serious about our basement remodel, we didn’t really know where to start. It was a big job and we were afraid of overspending and not getting it right. We talked to a couple of contractors but didn’t click with any of them. When a good friend referred us to Dave, everything changed. Not only did he help us work through all our questions but he offered ideas and improvisations along the way as he learned more about our needs and wants. Dave’s attention to detail and his craftsmanship are impeccable and his good nature and sense of humor quickly made him feel like family. Hiring Dave to do our remodel and two other projects since then has been one of the best investments we have ever made! ”

Woodworking is a skill that requires patience and respect. A good finished piece never happens if I push the wood to do something it just doesn’t want to do. I have the same respect for people. All consultations are free. If you fall in love with the idea, then I’m on the job. If not, then I’m happy to have the opportunity to talk about my favorite topic.
